The Portal
COURSE ASSIGNMENT | 2024
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project was created as the final assignment of a course in digital illustration and concept art at the Luleå University of Technology. The task was to create conceptual illustrations, moodboards and reference boards etc. for a hypothetical client brief. My goal with this project was to capture the eerie atmosphere and captivating visual language of timeless sci-fi films such as Alien (1979) , Prometheus (2012), Arrival (2016) and Annihilation (2018). I also wished for the concept art to hint at a similar type of narrative and mode of storytelling, where tension is built through withheld information, slow pacing and character intrigue rather than sheer spectacle.
I chose to use photobashing throughout the project to simplify the process and capture the look of sci-fi concept art.
